Lilly

It’s so bizarre to think Lilly, as she is so photogenic, hates getting her picture taken! I’ve used her in a number of shots with adding scripture or quotes, and I have to laugh she reminds me of my gram. I have a number of photos of my grandmother that was always hiding behind curtains, or with arms covering her face, or her face in her hands whenever a camera would appear. Much like Lilly though she does the same seeing a phone. Gram so did not like to get her picture taken - unless she was all cleaned up and posing. I remember there were times when my brother and I would have to clean up when she planned on taking our picture. We always had to look off into the distance or towards the sun and so many of our shots growing up with our eyes were squinting or with our arms trying to shade our eyes from the sun or both! ha ha

Anyway, I haven’t posted on here for quite some time for little if anything is going on in the Lily and or pet department. So, today I thought I would share what I shared with some of my friends. I hope everyone who reads this is blessed and encouraged knowing there is a God that loves you and our pets.

My old dog Lilly is actually closer to 13 now. She had a really bad bout and has been holding on. In the photo she's looking off in a distance she also looks alone. She is not alone. She’ll get encouragement until we say goodbye. Many of us are feeling lonely. But we are not alone. The Bible tells us to encourage one another and not neglect meeting together. Some people need more encouragement than others. This morning, bear with me I know this is long, I was thinking of how some people at church go to everything and others who don't. Some need to go to everything there's encouragement, it keeps them on task, it keeps their focus on the Lord, at least helps keep their focus on the Lord during times of trouble. I'm not saying that's the only reason people go to everything or just on Sundays. But as the scripture verse says as time is drawing near. We do see things that are unsettling in this world and our focus needs to be on the Lord. So, let us encourage one another. Let's lift up our voices to the Lord and take a step of faith! For those that are feeling lonely every morning it's a choice and throughout the day we choose. Let's choose life in the Lord.

Dog Treat Recall's

Lizzie
Loving and taking care of our pets and certainly keep you on your toe's.  Here are some thing FYI that I hope will help. :)

Yep it's true - I definitely need to get my dehydrator going in the jerky department.  This is in fact the 2nd time I believe there's been concern with the chicken jerky for dogs.

Dog Food Recall's

Here is another important topic on vaccines from The Whole Dog - they have numerous articles of interest.

Vaccines Can't Immunize

Thought I'd post a picture of my missed little friend and old neighbor Lizzy a Rough Coat Jack Russell - high energy - but not when I captured her here resting in the sun.   :)

Not Pets - Javelina's

When you're living out (rurally) you maybe just like me always looking - seeing what you can see.  Well in all honesty I notice things whether I'm looking for them or not.  I always say "be aware of your surroundings!"  LOL

I didn't have to look to hard to see the Javelina's out the kitchen window.  So thankful we have a fence to keep our dogs in and them out.  As cool as it is to watch them they're not to be messed with and as with all wild things in nature leave them be unless there's no other choice.  Javelina's have been known to be dangerous, we new of a neighbors dog (small breed) ending up with and I believe 80 stitches and the neighbor trying to help the dog ending up with broken ribs.  Shadow did make it and lived to a very old age.
Javelina's can be chased off with loud noises discouraging them from hanging around.  And, do not encourage them to come around by feeding them.  All animals look for food and water.

Not the best shot of Gordy but he scared them off.
On a lighter side.

When Gordy isn't out ripping around or on watch - he enjoys watching a favorite show.

But who doesn't live Little House On The Prairie and the wisdom of Mr. Ingalls?

We awoke to hives, day 2!

Poor Lilly Girl ~  After giving her Benadryl yesterday the hives literally subsided.   She wasn't necessarily itchy except for her nose (top back).  I gave her Benadryl before we all turned in for the night - still she seemed to be doing well.

Morning - bumps back and nose swollen.  .  . (taken by cell I apologize for the poor quality)

Either Lilly needs to be still or me ~ lol

Her nose is still swollen maybe a tad more and she resting for the most part.  However, she is one clever pup (of 2), she knows when you're trying to give her something to help - even in ground meat she will eat around it or turn it down!  Apparently it doesn't matter what the "ailment," she's the same.  .  . Keep us in your prayers,   :)   Oh - the bumps they disappeared not long after I gave her the Benadryl.

A Feathered Friend ~

Fredrika aka "Fred"

It's hard to say goodbye to a pet whether they have fur or feathers.  Fred has been a part of this family  for  23 years this past Mother's Day.  Jim's Mom had an Aviary and hatched out Fred and Snuggle's (sister).  They had to be hand fed and that's just what we did bringing them home (at that time Safford).  Snuggle's was always on the weak side, not sure why since all her Cockatiels were very healthy.  Jim and the boys would say that Fred is so feisty and tough she had to have done her!

Fred would walk on your shoulders, fly around the room to exercise her wings and come back to you.  When the boys were little I'd take her and Snuggle's to school.  They would also get Mat up for school by flying on to Rosie (Bullmastiff) crawl across her back climb onto the bed up to Mat and start grooming his hair like they did their feathers.   Fred was a traveler - hatched in Glendale and moved to her first home in Safford - off to NM then to OH and back to Safford.   You could say she's come full circle and I'm sad, very sad to say goodbye.

Pup Happenings!

The pups had a visit from their extended family - our grand pups.  Sophie as usual wasn't to thrilled and kept things stirred up off and on.  Towards the end of the visit (and visits are always to short) she wasn't doing so well.  Please keep her in your doggie prayers.

Gordy is always on the lookout for something.

Mostly lizards!

Even though Sophie stirs things up, she doesn't like to see them go.

I have mentioned in the past we have dirt, Riley blends right in.

Lilly hunts for lizards to!

Harvey a big dog trapped in a small body and can't be seen at night!
We will miss everyone 4 and 2 legged!  8(

At Home~

We've had a couple batches of peeps hatch this spring and they are already out and about independent of momma hen.  I thought I'd better get a picture of the recent peeps before they get to big.

"Girl" Not caring to much for her picture taken.

I noticed something that I didn't want to overlook any longer - the best farm dog ever, "Girl."  Girl is my Dad's dog given to him from an old friend, and several years ago.  We figure she is at least 12 years old and may actually be year or two older (I'm thinking older).  She's slowing down some but very young at heart and possibly the sweetest dog I know.  There isn't a need for a cat - she's a great mouser.  She will chase off hawks, keep snakes cornered, alert you when someone or thing is around most of all she just a happy dog and loves you around.  It would be hard to fine one as good.

Gordy on the other hand is very much the pup always curious and on the move.  He's very much my buddy follows me everywhere; inside or out.

He's always ready to play and is very spoiled!  Even though he's spoiled he's very smart, quick to learn, listens well, eager to please - he's loyal and loving.

Sophie is my sweetheart though and has been a loving mom figure to Gordy.  They love each other and spend most of their time together.

Best buds - Sophie and Gordy
**********

A couple of months ago we did get to visit two of the pups in Tucson.  I took them a treat they used to get when they were living here.  A wonderful yummy raw beef bone.

Maggie

Jack

The pups love their homes and the owners are very pleased with them and have all good things to say.  I have to say though with chagrin that Maggie ended up impregnated by another dog they owned a red nose.  I wasn't happy to hear that in fact I was upset.  The owner wasn't to happy either but the male got into the run.

Indy - looking all Innocent!

Maggie had 10 pups (is that a surprise) 2 didn't make it - altogether 4 red and 4 blue - I was told they are doing fine.
With heart felt sadness I was informed that Bella at her new home got out of the fenced area and was hit by a car and she didn't make it.  Bella, Maggie, Lilly, Jack and Gordo spent the longest time together they were all 6-7 months old before they left to there new homes.
One night a few months back Gordy woke up from sleeping crying and howling very mournful.  He didn't want out he was weeping.  I almost immediately thought  something must have happened perhaps to one of the siblings or to mom Molly.  Aaron told me that Lilly did the same and she was in California.   I beleive it was the loss of Bella.

Bella was so loving but she was one that we were concerned about the most - she was an excape artist.  She will be missed :(
